LG Electronics targets European heat pump market with integrated solutions

LG Electronics is expanding its presence in the European heat pump market by offering integrated solutions that combine its ‘Therma Vheat pump system with stainless steel buffer tanks. The company recently secured a large-scale contract to supply these packaged systems to a 102-unit social housing project in Lederkerk, Netherlands.

The buffer tanks utilize technology from OSO, a premium Norwegian hot water solution company acquired by LG Electronics last year. These tanks enhance system efficiency and stability by storing heated water, which reduces unnecessary equipment operation and minimizes energy consumption. By integrating the heat pump and buffer tank into a single designed system—including unified piping and control methods—LG aims to improve installation and maintenance efficiency for construction companies.

The push into the European market is driven by aggressive energy transition policies, such as the Netherlands' goal to phase out gas usage in millions of homes by 2050. The European heat pump market is projected to see significant growth, with some estimates suggesting it could reach approximately $82.6 billion by 2034.
