LG Electronics teams with Nvidia as Korean factories accelerate AI deployment

LG Electronics announced a partnership with Nvidia to expand a physical artificial intelligence (AI) business that will combine LG’s robot hardware and manufacturing expertise with Nvidia’s AI stack. The companies plan joint development of manufacturing robots, AI‑powered data centre solutions and mobility applications, with the collaboration outlined by LG CFO Kim Chang‑tae at the company’s 2026 Q2 earnings call.

At the same time, Korean manufacturers are broadening AI use across factories. Korean Deep Learning is supplying OCR and parsing AI to convert unstructured documents for automotive parts maker Seoyeon EWH. Kia has introduced an AI‑based lock‑out‑tag‑out (LOTO) safety system at its Otoland Gwangju plant, while Hyundai Mobis operates a digital safety‑management solution called Super Safe in logistics sites. The sector’s AI adoption rate remains low at about 4%, prompting a government‑backed “Manufacturing AX” programme that will invest 20 trillion won by 2030 to spur wider AI integration.
