LG Electronics to supply cockpit electronics for Renault’s first commercial SDV

LG Electronics will supply integrated cockpit electronics for the Renault Group’s first mass-produced commercial software-defined vehicle (SDV), the New Trafic E-Tech Electric. The vehicle has been recognized as the International Van of the Year.

The LG solution integrates the instrument cluster and infotainment platform into a single control framework optimized for SDV architecture. Unlike traditional vehicles that rely on multiple dedicated electronic control units (ECUs) for different functions, this centralized computing approach reduces system complexity and allows for over-the-air (OTA) updates to add or upgrade features after production.

By combining driving data, such as speed and RPM, with infotainment functions like navigation and media, the system provides a unified user experience. LG aims to expand its partnerships with global automakers as the industry transitions toward software-defined vehicle technologies.
