LG Electronics to supply integrated cockpit for Renault's first commercial SDV

LG Electronics will supply an integrated cockpit solution for Renault Group’s New Trafic E-Tech Electric, which is recognized as Europe’s first commercial software-defined vehicle (SDV). The solution combines the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system into a single, unified interface.

This integrated architecture is designed to optimize the vehicle's software-centric structure by replacing numerous individual electronic control units (ECUs) with high-performance computing. This approach allows for a more intuitive user experience and enables over-the-air (OTA) updates to improve features via artificial intelligence. For manufacturers, the simplified component design helps reduce production costs.

The partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between LG and Renault, including previous recognitions as a top supplier and the joint development of an Android-based infotainment system in 2021. LG intends to leverage this technology to expand its presence in the global SDV market, targeting automakers in North America and Asia.
