LG H&H expands forest water management project in Yeoju

LG H&H is expanding its ‘Water-Embracing Forest’ project in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, to enhance natural water management and flood prevention. The initiative, now in its fifth year, aims to improve the soil's ability to absorb and store rainwater, creating what is known as a ‘green dam.’

In collaboration with partners including Coca-Cola Korea, WWF, the Korea Ecological Environment Institute, and the Yeoju Forestry Association, the project has managed a cumulative forest area of 495 hectares—approximately 1.7 times the size of Yeouido. Recent activities in the Geumsa-myeon area involved nurturing young trees and maintaining natural forests by removing weeds and harmful species to improve the growth environment.

By enhancing the water retention capacity of the forest, the project helps secure stable water resources for agriculture and mitigates damage from heavy rains, such as flooding and soil erosion. The initiative also contributes to carbon sequestration and biodiversity enhancement.
