LG Innotek to supply camera modules for Amazon’s Zoox robotaxis
LG Innotek has announced the mass production and supply of high-resolution camera modules for Zoox, Amazon’s autonomous driving subsidiary. This marks the company’s first mass production of camera modules specifically designed for robotaxis.
The modules feature 5-megapixel high-resolution sensors and utilize ultra-precision optical design technology derived from mobile camera expertise. These cameras are designed to provide 360-degree sensing to minimize blind spots and are built to withstand extreme temperatures and waterproof conditions to ensure stable performance in harsh environments.
LG Innotek has collaborated with Zoox since the early stages of the robotaxi’s development, and the partnership is expected to continue for several years. The company aims to expand its sensing business into the ‘physical AI’ sector, targeting 2 trillion won in revenue from autonomous driving sensing solutions by 2030.
