LG study reveals high mental burden from domestic tasks
An international study conducted by LG Electronics as part of its 2026 ‘Life’s Good’ campaign has revealed the significant mental burden caused by daily domestic tasks. The research, which included 3,165 participants across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, found that individuals experience mental interruptions related to daily chores approximately 27 times per day.
This equates to a mental distraction roughly every 39 minutes, totaling over eight hours of mental load per week. On an annual basis, this burden is estimated to be equivalent to 87 days, or nearly three months. The study highlights that the mental load from home responsibilities is, on average, 1 hour and 9 minutes longer per day than the mental load associated with paid work.
The findings indicate that this constant mental presence affects overall well-being, with 51 percent of respondents reporting that mental load interferes with sleep and 49 percent stating it impacts their physical health.
