LG Uplus and IBCT partner to support Catena-X adoption for manufacturers
LG Uplus and data space specialist IBCT have entered into a strategic partnership to help South Korean manufacturing companies adopt Catena-X. This initiative aims to assist domestic manufacturers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, in complying with tightening European Union supply chain regulations.
Catena-X is a global data-sharing ecosystem involving major manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen. As the EU increases requirements regarding carbon emissions, raw material sourcing, and product traceability, Korean exporters face significant technical and financial hurdles in managing the necessary data.
The partnership will provide an integrated support system covering everything from initial consultation and registration to system construction and infrastructure operation. IBCT will focus on technical functions such as Digital Product Passports (DPP), Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), and supply chain traceability. LG Uplus will provide the essential cloud, telecommunications, and security infrastructure required to manage sensitive manufacturing data safely while connecting to the global ecosystem.
