LG Uplus establishes global standards for autonomous fixed access networks

LG Uplus has led the development of a new global standard for evaluating the autonomous network (AN) capabilities of fixed access networks. The company proposed and spearheaded the creation of an assessment table specifically for the fixed access network fault management domain within the TM Forum, a global industry consortium.

Fixed access networks, which connect services such as internet, IPTV, and Wi-Fi to customers, have lacked objective, official criteria to measure automation levels. This has previously made it difficult for telecommunications providers to compare operational capabilities or verify them against global benchmarks.

The new assessment table has been approved through official TM Forum procedures and will serve as a standard for AN level certification. This allows global operators to diagnose and compare their automation levels using consistent metrics, helping them identify areas for improvement. Additionally, equipment manufacturers can use these standards to align their solution development with the requirements of telecommunications providers.
