LG Uplus hosts memorial run to honor fallen firefighters

LG Uplus and the National Fire Agency hosted the second annual ‘U+ 119 Memorial Run 2026’ on July 17 at Sejong Central Park and the National Sejong Arboretum. The event brought together approximately 2,300 participants, including active firefighters, bereaved families of fallen firefighters, and the general public, to honor those who died in the line of duty.

The run featured two courses: an 11.9km route symbolizing the emergency number 119, completed by 1,400 people, and a 5km route for families and friends, completed by 600 people. Participants wore bibs displaying both their own names and the names and dates of passing firefighters to commemorate their sacrifices. The event focused on remembrance rather than competition, with no rankings or prizes awarded.

All proceeds from the 50,000 KRW participation fee per person will be donated to support the families of fallen firefighters. Following the run, an official memorial ceremony was held under the auspices of the National Fire Agency.
