LGBTQ+ pride events scheduled in Darmstadt and Magdeburg

Christopher Street Day (CSD) events are scheduled to take place in several German cities, including Darmstadt and Magdeburg, amid a climate of both celebration and heightened security concerns.

In Darmstadt, the event is set for August 15, 2026, under the motto “Show yourself. For all of us.” Organizers, including the local Green Party, aim to promote visibility, diversity, and solidarity in response to rising anti-queer hostility and violence.

In Magdeburg, the community is preparing for CSD weeks with a mix of pride and apprehension. Due to concerns regarding anti-queer crimes and recent attacks in Berlin and Magdeburg, the parade will be held at Domplatz for the first time. The program includes safety-oriented activities, such as self-defense courses, as organizers seek to balance community visibility with personal security.
