LH implements solar power surplus trading in Sejong apartments
Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) has launched a surplus power offsetting system at the Sanul Village Complex 4 in Sejong City. This marks the first time the company has applied this method to LH apartment complexes.
The complex, a Zero Energy Building (ZEB) Grade 3 public rental housing site with 238 units, features 246kW of solar power generation equipment. The monthly average power generation covers approximately 49.1% of the complex's electricity consumption. Under the new system, surplus electricity produced by the solar facilities after internal consumption is supplied to the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). This surplus is then offset against the electricity supplied by KEPCO, reducing overall costs.
LH expects this initiative to save residents an average of 8,000 KRW per month in management fees. Following discussions with KEPCO, the corporation plans to identify other ZEB Grade 5 or higher complexes to implement similar systems and expand the program based on operational performance.
