L’Hemisfèric premieres award-winning black hole documentary

L’Hemisfèric has premiered the fulldome film ‘Black Holes: Unknown Horizons’ (Forats negres. Horitzons desconeguts), a scientific production exploring the mysteries of these cosmic objects. The film, which won ‘Best Science Film of the Year’ at the 2024 Dome Fest West Film Festival, is a collaborative production by the Planetario de Madrid and the ”la Caixa” Foundation.

The documentary examines how black holes are formed from the explosions of massive stars, their ability to deform space-time, and their capacity to consume stars. It details the extreme curvature of space-time within these objects, noting that even light cannot escape them. The film covers the spectrum of black holes, ranging from tiny, rapidly evaporating ones to massive entities located at the centers of galaxies.
