Lhuan-dre Pretorius breaks T20 world record with 188 runs
Lhuan-dre Pretorius, a 20-year-old South African batter, has set a new world record for the highest individual score in men’s T20 cricket. Playing for the Titans against the Knights in the CSA T20 Challenge in Bloemfontein, Pretorius scored an unbeaten 188 runs off 79 deliveries.
His performance surpassed the previous record of 175 not out held by Chris Gayle, which was set during the 2013 Indian Premier League. Pretorius’s innings included 13 sixes and 15 fours, propelling the Titans to a total of 267 for 3. The Titans ultimately secured a 124-run victory as the Knights were bowled out for 143.
Pretorius reached his half-century in 24 balls, his century in 40, and his 150 in 58. By facing 79 deliveries, he also equaled the record for the longest innings in T20 history held by Aaron Finch and Marcus Stoinis. The young left-hander fell just 12 runs short of a historic T20 double-century.
