Li Auto launches i9 electric SUV to compete with NIO

Li Auto has officially launched the i9, priced at 369,800 yuan. The new model represents a significant generational upgrade over the existing i8, offering increased dimensions, advanced chassis technology including rear-wheel steering and dual-chamber air suspension, and upgraded intelligent cockpit features powered by the Qualcomm 8797 chip and Li Auto's self-developed Mach M100 chip.

The strategic pricing of the i9 appears aimed at competing directly with NIO's ES8 in the 400,000 yuan premium electric SUV market. While the i9's launch creates internal competition for the i8, it positions Li Auto to challenge NIO's established dominance in the high-end pure electric segment by leveraging its expertise in family-oriented vehicle design and space optimization.
