Li Auto to equip full vehicle lineup with self-developed batteries
Li Auto has announced progress regarding its plan to equip its entire vehicle lineup with self-developed batteries. The company aims to transition from using third-party cells, such as those from CATL, to its own proprietary 5C ternary lithium batteries.
Currently, Li Auto's self-developed battery technology is being utilized in the L8, L6, and i8 models. The rollout for upcoming models includes the MEGA and the i9, which will initially use CATL 5C batteries before switching to Li Auto's in-house production once scaling is complete. Additionally, the 2026 model of the i6, expected in the fourth quarter, will feature both the self-developed 5C battery and the company's proprietary Mach chip.
