Li Sichuan addresses New Taipei polling gaps and discusses urban development
New Taipei City mayoral candidate Li Sichuan is addressing challenges in recent polling data. While overall support leads Democratic Progressive Party candidate Su Qiaohui by 6.7 percentage points, Li trails Su by approximately 7 points in Banqiao, a key swing district, and shows lower support among voters under 40.
Li responded to these findings by emphasizing his commitment to grassroots engagement and his extensive experience in municipal administration. He noted that polling fluctuates and stated he intends to win support through practical, feasible urban planning and a series of over 20 specific policy proposals.
In a related move to discuss urban governance, Li visited Keelung to meet with Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang. The two leaders discussed regional development issues, including the Keelung MRT planning, sidewalk leveling, and child-friendly urban infrastructure. Li expressed interest in Keelung’s indoor children’s playground models as potential references for future planning in New Taipei City.
