Li Sichuan holds first major New Taipei City mayoral campaign rally

Kuomintang New Taipei City mayoral candidate Li Sichuan held his first large-scale campaign rally in Banqiao. During the event, several citizens shared positive experiences regarding his past administrative work. A survivor of the 921 earthquake praised Li for his hands-on approach and lack of official pretension during post-disaster reconstruction. Additionally, a representative from a community urban renewal project credited Li’s coordination skills during his tenure as Deputy Mayor for the successful completion of their project.

In response to criticisms from Democratic Progressive Party members regarding Li’s past conduct in coordination meetings, former Kuomintang spokesperson Yang Chih-yu launched a counter-attack. Yang criticized former Premier Su Tseng-chang, alleging that he previously behaved disrespectfully toward local community leaders during protests against the Shen'ao Power Plant. Yang characterized the attacks on Li as hypocritical, citing Su Tseng-chang’s past physical interactions with petitioners as evidence of a lack of respect for public opinion.
