Li Zhenxiu announces candidacy for Zhubei mayor

Former Taiwan People's Party legislator Li Zhenxiu has officially announced her candidacy for the Zhubei mayoral election. Li stated that her decision is a commitment to the city based on her experiences as a resident, emphasizing a platform focused on daily life rather than pure politics.

Her proposed policy platform, titled the ‘Zhubei City Governance White Paper,’ focuses on five key areas: improving transportation safety for pedestrians and the elderly, upgrading school nutrition and student safety, revitalizing public recreational spaces, strengthening environmental protections regarding water and air quality, and utilizing technology to increase government efficiency.

Chiu Chen-yuan, the official candidate for the Taiwan People's Party, noted that he was aware of Li's intentions after meeting her recently. As Li holds mainland Chinese spouse status, questions regarding her eligibility to run for office may require further clarification from the Central Election Commission.
