Lia Ventura denounces Futuro Nazionale leader's claim femicide doesn't exist
Roberto Vannacci, leader of the far‑right Futuro Nazionale, declared at a Rome assembly that “femicide does not exist, it is just another murder.” Lia Ventura, mother of Valentina Sarto, responded with outrage, saying Vannacci’s words show “zero empathy” for victims. Ventura recounted that her 18‑year‑old daughter was stabbed 19 times on March 18 by her husband Vincenzo Dongellini, who had married her less than a year earlier. She urged Vannacci to “feel the pain she is feeling” and demanded justice, noting that prosecutors have requested an immediate trial for Dongellini. Ventura also referenced Italy’s 2025 law 181, which recognises violence against women as a structural phenomenon. The exchange highlights ongoing tensions over gender‑based violence policy in Italy.
