Wigan Warriors captain Liam Farrell has announced that he will retire from professional rugby league at the end of the 2026 season. The 36-year-old forward has spent his entire 17-year professional career with the club.

Farrell’s career includes six Super League titles, five Challenge Cup victories, and two World Club Challenge wins. He has made over 400 appearances for the club and earned 12 caps for the England national team. In his announcement, Farrell stated, “You have to make the right call at the right time, and I think I have done that.”

Following his retirement, Farrell will remain at Wigan Warriors to work within the club’s strength and conditioning department. Warriors CEO Kris Radlinski praised Farrell as one of the club’s greatest players, noting his extraordinary commitment and mental strength.
