Liam Lawson adapts to new Madring circuit with Red Bull Racing
Liam Lawson has completed his first practice sessions at the new Madring circuit in Madrid, serving as a substitute for Red Bull Racing. During Free Practice 1, Lawson noted that the car was “really difficult to drive” as the team worked through adjustments to the rear wheel bodywork and floor geometry.
Lawson indicated that the team likely “left a little bit of margin” on the table while prioritizing consistency and familiarity with the 5.4km track. Despite initial challenges, he improved his times during soft tyre runs, aiming to find more pace ahead of qualifying.
Comparing the new venue to other street circuits, Lawson described the Madring as a technical and challenging track lacking significant flow, drawing parallels to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. He noted that the proximity of walls and blind corners would make the circuit demanding and predicted that track traffic would be a major factor during the race weekend.
