Liam Lawson scores seventh at Dutch GP on Red Bull return
Liam Lawson secured a seventh-place finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, marking a successful return to Red Bull Racing after being called up to replace the injured Isack Hadjar. Lawson managed to score points despite the chaotic race conditions, which included mixed track surfaces where parts of the circuit remained wet while others were dry.
The race was marked by a significant first-lap crash involving Max Verstappen, who lost control of his car in the final corner due to the tricky grip levels on slick tires. Lawson, driving directly behind Verstappen, described the moment as “just impossible” and noted the difficulty of navigating the slippery sections.
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies noted that while the team faced performance challenges and a perceived regression in pace compared to before the summer break, Lawson’s performance was a bright spot. Lawson expressed satisfaction with extracting maximum points from the car, despite struggling to match the pace of the leaders.
