Liam Lawson steers Racing Bulls to fifth place at Monaco Grand Prix

New Zealand driver Liam Lawson started 10th on the grid in Monaco and fought his way to a fifth‑place finish, matching his best result in the series. Team‑mate Arvid Lindblad recovered from 15th to finish sixth, giving Racing Bulls 18 points – the most the outfit has scored since the 2021 Abu Dhabi race.

The Monaco weekend was chaotic, with two safety‑car periods and a red‑flag after a crash that eliminated Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. Lawson faced early steering problems and brushed the barriers, later crossing the pit‑lane exit 0.8 seconds after a red light, but stewards ruled the circumstances mitigating and imposed no penalty.

Team principal Alan Permane said the team was “on the back foot a little bit” after a tough day, citing tyre‑operating‑window and balance issues that the crew will address before the next round in Barcelona. Lawson reflected on the result: “I didn’t think I was going to race… it feels really good especially where we started the weekend and obviously where we started the race as well.”
