Liam Lawson strengthens position within Red Bull driver program

Liam Lawson’s recent performances while filling in for Red Bull have significantly strengthened his standing within the Red Bull driver program. Following a difficult stint at the start of the 2025 season, Lawson has demonstrated improved focus and composure, earning praise from Racing Bulls team principal Laurent Mekies.

Mekies noted that Lawson has developed as a driver, specifically highlighting his ability to remain calm and concentrated while working with the team. Recent highlights include a sixth-place finish at the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid and strong showings in Zandvoort and Monza.

Regarding future lineups, Red Bull Racing has confirmed Isack Hadjar will remain with the top team alongside Max Verstappen for 2027. Speculation suggests Lawson may move to Racing Bulls to partner with Arvid Lindblad, though the possibility of a temporary loan to a competing team remains a consideration. Racing Bulls principal Alan Permane has not officially confirmed the 2027 roster, noting that Nikola Tsolov remains a candidate for the seat.
