Lian Yunzhi sets new Rubik's Cube world record at age six

Six-year-old Lian Yunzhi from China has set a new world record in the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube speedcubing competition. After initially achieving an average time of 4.52 seconds at a World Cube Association (WCA) event in Wuhan, she improved her performance just three days later in Guangzhou, reaching a time of 4.27 seconds.

Lian's achievement follows intensive training, often involving three hours on weekdays and six hours on weekends. Under the guidance of a specialized trainer from Shanghai, she mastered over 1,300 solving algorithms. Her mother, Lin Yangxi, noted that the discipline has significantly aided Lian's concentration, memory, and logical thinking. While Lian has become a local celebrity at her kindergarten, her mother stated that the focus is on building resilience and perseverance rather than pursuing a lifelong professional career in speedcubing.
