Lian Yunzhi sets new women's Rubik's Cube world records
Lian Yunzhi, a six-year-old girl from Chengdu, China, has set new women’s world records for the 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube. During two World Cube Association-certified competitions held in Wuhan and Guangzhou, she broke the women's record twice within a three-day period.
Lian first achieved an average solve time of 4.52 seconds before improving her mark to 4.27 seconds. This achievement makes her the first female speedcuber to record an average time below 4.5 seconds. Her individual single record for the 3x3x3 cube is noted at 3.54 seconds.
Lian, nicknamed “Zhizhi,” began playing with the cube at age four. She has mastered more than 1,300 algorithms and practices for two to three hours daily. Her mother, Lin Yangxi, noted that the activity helps foster focus, memory, and logical thinking. The family has even traveled to Shanghai to seek specialized training to support her development.
