Liana Caballero appointed to Central Bank of Paraguay Board until 2031

The Paraguayan government has formalized the appointment of economist Liana Caballero Krause to the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP). Following constitutional approval from the Senate, her new mandate is set to extend until 2031.

Caballero has an extensive history with the BCP, having joined the institution in 2008. Her previous roles include serving on the Board between 2019 and 2021, acting as the Deputy General Manager of Financial Operations, and returning to the Board in September 2023. She previously served as a local economist for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Paraguay from 2011 to 2013.

Her reappointment aims to provide technical continuity to the country's monetary authority. Key challenges for her upcoming term include managing financial digitalization, interoperability, financial inclusion, and the adoption of international standards to deepen the Paraguayan financial market.
