Liang Wenfeng tops AI billionaire rankings with $36 bn fortune

Liang Wenfeng, the founder of the artificial‑intelligence startup DeepSeek, saw his personal wealth rise to about $36 billion, according to Bloomberg’s billionaire index. The surge followed DeepSeek’s June financing round that raised more than $7.4 billion and pushed the company’s valuation to roughly $50 billion. While his ownership stake fell from about 84 % to 78 % due to the new capital, the cash infusion added roughly $3 billion to his assets, lifting his net worth from $16.7 billion just weeks earlier.

The new ranking places Wenfeng ahead of prominent U.S. AI founders such as Anthropic co‑founder Dario Amodei ($8 bn) and OpenAI co‑founder Greg Brockman ($25.5 bn). Within China he ranks eighth among the country’s richest individuals, trailing chip‑maker founder Chen Tianshi, whose stake in AI hardware would be valued at around $40 bn if included. In Czech terms the fortune is reported at about 760 billion crowns.
