Liberal Party candidates clash at political event in Distrito Federal

A political gathering of supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro in the Federal District ended in a physical altercation between two Liberal Party (PL) candidates, Mariana Naime and Luiza do Clezão.

The incident occurred at the Integrated Electronic Monitoring Center (CIME) while supporters were waiting for the release of Manoel Messias. According to reports, tensions rose when Mariana Naime arrived wearing a campaign shirt, which some attendees viewed as an inappropriate use of the venue for political purposes. A verbal dispute escalated after Edjane Cunha, the mother of candidate Luiza do Clezão, approached Naime. The confrontation intensified when Edjane made comments regarding the death of her husband, Clezão, who died while in custody.

Following the dispute, Naime allegedly physically confronted Edjane and grabbed Luiza do Clezão by the arms. Luiza was subsequently taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) for a forensic examination. The Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF) is investigating the incident as a case of bodily injury, while Mariana Naime has filed a police report against Luiza for defamation.
