Liberal Party in Eden-Monaro faces $100,000 campaign debt

Members of the Liberal Party in the Eden-Monaro electorate are facing significant financial challenges following a failed 2025 federal election campaign. Reports indicate the campaign resulted in a debt exceeding $100,000, raising concerns about the party's ability to recruit and preselect candidates for future elections.

Minutes from an April 2026 meeting of the Goulburn branch of the NSW Liberals reveal that twenty-one members voted unanimously to conduct an internal audit to account for the monetary deficit. However, it is understood that the audit was never completed.

In a further move, members voted to exclude former federal candidate Jo van der Plaat and other immediate past members of the Eden-Monaro federal electorate committee from standing for the committee in the future.
