Liberal Party split over Bruno Scheid's absence at Rondônia convention
At the Liberal Party (PL) convention in Rondônia, Senate candidate Bruno Scheid was not seen on the main stage, prompting two contradictory explanations. One version, from party press adviser Acácia Cavalcanti, says Scheid missed the event because a delayed flight kept him in Brasília. Another circulating account claims Scheid was present but refused to step onto the stage after being told to give up the coveted Senate ballot number 222 to fellow candidate Fernando Máximo, who took number 221. The party has not issued a clarification to resolve the discrepancy.
The same convention, held nationally at São Paulo's Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu, also served to launch Senator Flávio Bolsonaro's presidential candidacy. Rondônia's leading PL figures—governor‑candidate Marcos Rogério, Senate hopefuls Bruno Scheid and Fernando Máximo—attended, stressing unity and a shared reform agenda for both the state and the country. The event highlighted internal party dynamics while projecting a coordinated front ahead of upcoming elections.
