Liberec Botanical Garden introduces giant Nepenthes truncata
The Liberec Botanical Garden has launched a new exhibition in Pavilion D featuring Nepenthes truncata, one of the world’s largest species of pitcher plants. Unlike most pitcher plants that are kept behind protective glass to maintain high humidity, this robust species is being displayed without a barrier.
Visitors can observe the plants closely and, once they have successfully taken root, will be permitted to touch them gently. The exhibition includes six specimens of Nepenthes truncata, which is native to Mindanao Island in the Philippines, alongside several other tropical plant species that mimic its natural habitat. The garden aims to provide a multi-sensory experience, particularly for children and school groups.
