Liberec election leaders prioritize transport and housing

Candidates for the upcoming municipal elections in Liberec have identified key priorities for the city, focusing primarily on transportation, infrastructure, housing, and public spaces.

Political leaders expressed a consensus on the need for investment in these sectors, while simultaneously emphasizing the importance of fiscal responsibility and monitoring municipal debt. Specific proposals include completing road projects to industrial zones, developing an inner city ring road, and constructing municipal housing. Some candidates suggested that private investment in a cable car system could save approximately 750 million CZK.

Concerns were also raised regarding the city budget, with some leaders noting projected expenditure increases for 2026 that significantly exceed expected revenues. Candidates stressed the need for rationalizing spending and prioritizing infrastructure that serves the broader community over complex or overpriced projects.
