Liberec Region invests in new emergency center and hospital upgrades
Significant healthcare infrastructure investments are underway in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic, focusing on emergency services and hospital modernization.
The Medical Rescue Service of the Liberec Region has launched operations at a new Integrated Dispatch Center in the Vesecko industrial zone near Turnov. The facility, costing nearly 265 million CZK, was funded by the Liberec Region and a 100 million CZK contribution from the Ministry of the Interior. The new center, which Turnov rescuers will use starting October 1, 2026, will be shared with the Fire Rescue Service of the Liberec Region and the Traffic Police. The location provides direct access to the I/10 road, facilitating faster emergency response.
Simultaneously, a 275 million CZK modernization project has begun at the hospital in Frýdlant, which is part of the Liberec Regional Hospital (KNL). The project aims to expand outpatient clinics, rehabilitation, and laboratories to serve approximately 24,000 residents. While the modernization will improve technical infrastructure and staff facilities, KNL Director Richard Lukáš noted that certain departments, such as full surgery and gynecology, may not be maintained, with the goal being to provide specialized outpatient care. The project includes the demolition of a former children's hospital, with completion expected by spring 2029.
