Liberec Region reports record-low fines for children's camps

Hygiene inspectors in the Liberec Region reported that fines issued to children's camps this year were at their lowest level in at least 20 years. During inspections of 78 camps and various catering services, only two fines were issued, both due to deficiencies in drinking water supplies.

Issues arose when camps relied on local wells or imported water rather than public water systems. Officials noted that a hot summer and lack of rainfall have highlighted potential future risks regarding the declining output of local water sources. In one instance, a well could not meet a camp's needs, requiring emergency assistance from firefighters.

While there were minor uncertainties regarding the validity of medical fitness certificates and small discrepancies in first-aid kit equipment, most organizers adhered to existing standards for sanitation and catering despite new, more flexible legislative regulations.
