Liberec Region unemployment rate falls to 5.6 percent in September

The unemployment rate in the Liberec Region saw a decrease in September, falling to 5.6 percent. This marks the first decline in the region since 2021, according to the Czech Labor Office. While the overall number of job seekers dropped by 108 compared to August, there was a notable seasonal increase in young people and graduates seeking work following the summer holidays.

On a broader national scale, labor market analysts highlight concerning trends regarding specific demographics. The number of unemployed individuals under 24 has risen to 57,600, a group often vulnerable due to a lack of experience or the replacement of junior roles by artificial intelligence. Additionally, workers over the age of 60 face significant challenges; they constitute one-fifth of the long-term unemployed, as companies often prioritize younger workers with perceived higher digital proficiency and lower costs.
