Liberec resident seeks aid for stairlift to overcome mobility barriers

An 82-year-old man named Josef Himmel from Liberec is seeking public assistance to overcome mobility barriers in his own home. Following a high amputation of his right leg and other health issues, Himmel is unable to navigate the stairs at his apartment building entrance, effectively leaving him confined indoors.

While his health insurance provider, VZP, has provided an electric wheelchair, the lack of accessibility in his building remains a critical obstacle. A fundraising campaign organized via the Znesnáze portal aims to purchase an ALTECH SP-STRATOS stairlift, which has already received support from building owners and management.

Although a contribution from a foundation and a pending application for state aid through the Czech Labor Office are in progress, organizers note that they cannot rely solely on government assistance to cover the high cost of the installation.
