Liberia advocates for two-state solution at UN Security Council

Liberia has reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during a United Nations Security Council meeting. Prutus Sackie, Liberia’s Political Coordinator to the UN Security Council, stated that lasting peace necessitates Israel and Palestine coexisting as independent nations with secure borders.

Sackie cautioned all parties against taking unilateral actions that alter facts on the ground, which could prevent the possibility of two states. He called for the full implementation of Resolution 2803, arguing that its transitional and stabilization mechanisms should be used to facilitate Palestinian statehood.

Liberia also expressed its commitment to international law, specifically aligning its position with the 2024 Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice. Sackie noted that while the window for a two-state solution remains narrow, Liberia supports leaders and nations dedicated to this path.
