Liberia appoints retired General Ziankahn to lead LDEA

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has appointed retired Major General Daniel Dee Ziankahn, Jr. as the Director General of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA). The move is intended to intensify the government's campaign against illicit narcotics and transnational organized crime.

Ziankahn, a former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia and former Minister of National Defense, will report directly to the President in consultation with the Minister of Justice. Alongside Ziankahn, President Boakai appointed Precious Rue as Deputy Director General for Operations and Prince Mulbah as Deputy Director General for Administration.

Pending Senate confirmation, the appointees have been directed to assume their responsibilities in an acting capacity. These leadership changes follow an investigative report from the Ministry of Justice and are part of broader institutional reforms aimed at addressing drug trafficking as a national security threat.
