Liberia Chief Justice suspends Cllr. Peter King

Chief Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay Sr. has issued a temporary suspension against Cllr. Peter King, prohibiting him from practicing law in Liberia. The suspension is effective immediately and remains in place pending an investigation by the Grievance and Ethics Committee (GEC).

The disciplinary action follows a complaint filed by Beatrice Swen regarding alleged professional misconduct related to a conveyance transaction. According to the Office of the Chief Justice, King reportedly failed to respond to multiple inquiries regarding the matter before a formal letter was issued on September 8, 2026.

The Chief Justice stated the suspension is intended to preserve the integrity of the administration of justice during the investigation. King has been ordered to cooperate fully with the GEC, including responding to all citations and requests. The investigation is not a final determination of misconduct.
