Liberia Gender Minister launches nationwide project assessment tour

Gbeme Horace-Kollie, Liberia’s Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, has commenced a nationwide assessment tour to evaluate the implementation of programs targeting women, children, and vulnerable groups. The tour aims to ensure government funding effectively reaches intended beneficiaries and to identify challenges facing local communities.

Key initiatives under review include the Spotlight Initiative, the REALISE Project, and the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP). The assessment covers several counties, including Nimba, Bong, Lofa, Margibi, Grand Bassa, and River Cess.

As part of the tour, the ministry is distributing office equipment to gender offices across all 15 counties to improve service delivery and data management. In Nimba and Bong counties, the ministry provided items such as laptops, printers, desks, chairs, and fans. In Nimba, the consignment also included 25 mattresses and book bags for safe homes, intended to strengthen the institutional capacity to respond to gender-based violence and support vulnerable citizens.
