Liberia National Red Cross Society budget reduced in 2026
The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) has experienced a significant reduction in its national budget allocation. Gregory T. Blamo, Secretary General of the LNRCS, stated that the organization's subsidy was cut from US$100,000 in 2025 to US$40,000 in the 2026 national budget.
A review of the official 2025 and 2026 National Budgets published by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning confirms this reduction. The funding decrease comes at a time when the organization is appealing for an additional US$50,000 to assist families affected by disasters such as windstorms and fire outbreaks. The budget cut also occurs amid regional tensions along the Liberian-Guinean border, which have led to resident displacement.
