Liberia Revenue Authority investigates bribery and extortion allegations

The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has launched an investigation into allegations of bribery and extortion involving three employees, including two Assistant Commissioners. The claims were brought to light during a live radio broadcast and on social media by a Nigerian businessman.

The businessman alleges that the employees sought money under the pretext of facilitating a contract for software development for the Authority. LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah has directed the Professional Ethics Division to conduct a thorough and impartial probe.

While the investigation is underway, the LRA noted that the allegations remain unproven and that the staff involved are entitled to due process. The Authority stated that appropriate administrative or disciplinary actions will be taken if misconduct is established.
