Liberia seizes mysterious vessel and convicts LDEA officers in drug probes
Liberian security forces have seized a mysterious vessel that drifted to the rear of the Monrovia Central Prison. Major General Davidson F. Forleh confirmed the AFL LCG took control of the boat early Thursday. Two foreign nationals are currently being held as authorities conduct a search of the vessel in connection with ongoing drug investigations.
In a separate legal development, a jury in Margibi County convicted two senior Liberian Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) officers, Joe Logan and Lovette Flowers, along with a Nigerian national, Tony Obi, for drug trafficking. The case involved the movement of US$181,008 and over LD$63.2 million. Prosecutors alleged the officers accepted a US$10,000 bribe to undermine anti-drug efforts and were involved in the sale of cocaine on the black market.
