Liberia to host workshop on draft National Intellectual Property Policy

The Government of Liberia, through the Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO) and in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), will host a two-day validation workshop for the draft National Intellectual Property Policy and Strategy (NIPPS). Scheduled for October 15-16, the workshop aims to bring together public and private sector stakeholders to review a framework for the protection, management, enforcement, and commercialization of intellectual property.

The initiative is part of Liberia’s broader economic development agenda under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. This strategy seeks to foster a competitive, private-sector-driven economy by improving the business-enabling environment through a robust intellectual property ecosystem.

The draft policy includes specific provisions addressing artificial intelligence and its implications for the ownership and protection of creative works and inventions, aiming to support entrepreneurs and the nation’s growing creative sector.
