Liberia: Unity Party faces scrutiny over campaign promises

Three years after the Unity Party launched its “Rescue Mission” in Monrovia, the administration of Joseph Nyuma Boakai faces increasing scrutiny regarding its ability to fulfill campaign promises. The initiative, which was positioned as a corrective to the previous governance of George Weah, is now being evaluated against its stated goals.

Data from Naymote’s independent President Meter project highlights significant gaps in implementation. In 2024, monitoring of 126 campaign promises revealed that only five had been fulfilled by the end of the first year. A subsequent 2025 report tracking 378 interventions across the government’s ARREST Agenda found that only 0.8 percent of interventions were fully completed.
