Liberian local groups donate supplies to support district sports leagues

Local stakeholders and citizens in Liberia are providing material support to grassroots sports leagues in preparation for the 2026 National County Sports Meet.

In Grand Bassa County, the Bassa Stakeholders Group donated over US$2,000 in sporting equipment, including 12 sets of jerseys and 10 footballs, to the Bassa Sports Association. The group also allocated LD$130,000 in prize money for the District League winners and runners-up. Organizers noted the league serves as a vital platform for scouting talent for the national competition scheduled for November.

In Grand Cape Mount County, Foday Thomas Tucker II donated sports gear and food supplies to the Pokpa and Tewor districts ahead of their district meet. The donation included jerseys, footballs, training bibs, and various food items. The tournament is set to begin on September 13, 2026, at the Weelor Sports Ground, with the goal of identifying players for the upcoming national football and kickball tournaments.
