Libero Consorzio di Siracusa faces financial instability

Alda Altamore, the provincial secretary of Uil Fp Siracusa, has called for urgent action to address the financial and administrative instability of the Libero Consorzio Comunale di Siracusa. She identified the issue of forced levies as a critical obstacle that severely limits the entity's ability to perform its institutional functions and guarantee essential services.

Altamore emphasized that the current lack of resources hinders the maintenance of provincial roads, school building upkeep, and assistance for students with disabilities. She urged regional and national representatives to stop shifting responsibilities between different levels of government and instead seek a structural, rather than emergency, solution.

The union is calling for immediate dialogue between the national government, the Sicilian Region, local representatives, and the leadership of the Libero Consorzio to ensure the entity has the defined competencies and stable financial framework necessary to serve local communities and workers.
