Libertarian opposition clashes in Lanús and Villa Mercedes, Argentina

In Lanús, councilor Marcelo Villa of Vamos por La Libertad y la Seguridad criticised libertarian alderman Ignacio Moroni and defended Diego Kravetz as the strongest candidate to challenge incumbent mayor Julián Álvarez. Villa urged the opposition to focus on municipal governance rather than internal disputes and called for a unified front ahead of the 2027 local elections.

In Villa Mercedes, mayor Maximiliano Frontera confronted 22‑year‑old libertarian activist Tino Cometto after the latter organised a protest against new Uber regulations. Frontera questioned the protest’s relevance, citing broader economic concerns such as imports, industry closures and small‑business struggles. The incident reflects wider tensions within San Luis politics as Governor Claudio Poggi negotiates possible alliances with national leaders of La Libertad Avanza ahead of the 2027 elections.
